Product Description:
The Ibanez RGD is the manufacturer's ultimate metal machine, specially designed for the demands of down tuning. To optimally support the rich, dense sound of low tunings, the scale length has been extended by one inch to 26.5 inches—longer than standard, but still comfortable to play. Despite the longer scale, the neck remains fast and is perfect for rapid solos, while extra-deep cutaways allow comfortable access to the highest positions on the fretboard. At the heart of the instrument, the 5-piece Wizard II-7 neck made of panga panga and walnut provides stability, speed, and excellent playability. The Macassar ebony fingerboard delivers tight bass, defined mids, clear highs, and fast response with rich sustain. Jumbo frets support a smooth playing feel, especially when soloing and playing single notes. Sonically, the RGD combines a striking flamed maple top with a layered ash and okoume body, which not only gives the instrument an impressive look, but also delivers brightness, presence, and rich sustain. Developed in close collaboration with DiMarzio®, the Fusion Edge pickups produce a powerful, characterful sound with clear highs, tight bass, and compressed low mids without the sound becoming muddy in the mids. Additional flexibility is provided by the coil tap switch, which allows both pickups to quickly deliver different sound variations. Gotoh® MG-T locking tuners ensure maximum tuning stability and quick string changes, while the Gibraltar Standard III bridge with optimized base plate and saddles not only offers playing comfort but also improves vibration transfer and sustain. Luminescent side dots also ensure perfect orientation on dark stages. The Ibanez RGD combines first-class metal performance, ergonomic design, and versatile sound options in an instrument that is optimized for deep tunings, fast solos, and maximum expressiveness.
